2011-12 Garland ISD School Schedule, Garland TX | Dallas County

1st Day of School for the Garland School District (GISD) is Monday, August 22nd! Do you know what TIME your child needs to be at school??? 

Since there are so many schools within the Garland School District, they have staggered the Start / End times to less the number of buses as well as traffic. Below are the the general hours for the different schools and here is a link to the GISD School Calendar.

Pre-Kindergarten 

  • 8:00 a.m. - 10:55 a.m. for Morning Pre-Kindergarten
  • 12:15 p.m. - 3:10 p.m. for Afternoon Pre-Kindergarten

Elementary Schools (includes Kindergarten) Garland ISD Back to School

  • 8:00 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.

Middle Schools

  • 8:50 a.m. - 3:50 p.m. for all middle schools except Jackson
  • 7:30 a.m. - 2:20 p.m. for Jackson Technology Center for Math & Science

High Schools

  • 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. for GHS, NFHS, SGHS, LCHS
  • 7:20 a.m. - 2:20 p.m. for North Garland HS
  • 7:22 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. for Rowlett HS and Sachse HS

Now that you know what Time School Starts & Ends, how about all the other things ... Do you have all the required School Supplies? Do you have the proper clothes that follow the GISD Standardized Dress Code? If not, you have 1 more week and don't forget the Texas Tax Free Shopping Weekend, Aug 19-21!     


*If you are New to the Garland School District in Dallas County (Garland TX, Rowlett TX, Sasche TX), the Student Services will extend their schedule for last minute enrollments & will be on Saturday, August 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.   


*If your child needs to take the School Bus & you haven't received your Bus Route information, please contact your child's school.

Seems like a lot of High Schools outside of Collin County are starting in the 7 am hour, but ours has actually moved to 9 am.

7:30 is quite early ... but come to think of it, when I was in HS, we started at 7:30/45 too. 9 for HS is a good for maybe Seniors ;)
